Search Engine Journal Webinar to Address AI Overview and LLM Measurement Gaps for Enterprise SEO Teams

Search Engine Journal has announced a webinar scheduled for October 14, 2026, in which STAT's Tom Capper will outline measurement challenges posed by AI Overviews and large language models and offer tactical solutions for enterprise SEO practitioners.

Search Engine Journal (SEJ) has announced a free webinar titled "Tactical Solutions For The Biggest AI Search Measurement Challenges," set for Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 2 p.m. ET. The session is aimed at enterprise and agency SEO professionals who are grappling with how to account for AI-generated search experiences in their reporting.

The webinar will be led by Tom Capper, who SEJ describes as "Director of Search Product Strategy at STAT, Moz's enterprise SERP analytics platform," with work focused on "large-scale SERP data analysis." According to SEJ, Capper will "walk through the biggest measurement challenges in AI search and a tactical solution for each one."

The Measurement Problem

SEJ frames the core challenge as a gap between traditional SEO metrics and the reality of AI-driven discovery. The publication states that "AI Overviews now appear at the top of a growing share of queries," while "a meaningful portion of your audience asks AI Mode, ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini instead of scrolling through search results." As a result, SEJ argues, "Rankings and clicks still matter, but they capture less of how people find and evaluate brands than they used to."

The announcement identifies a specific limitation in existing tooling: "A rank tracker can tell you that an AI Overview appeared for a query. On its own, it can't tell you whether your brand was cited in that Overview, how your citations change from one query to another, or what a citation is worth compared with a position-three organic ranking."

LLM-based answers present an additional layer of difficulty, according to SEJ. The publication states that "LLM answers are harder to measure than AI Overviews," noting that "they don't produce impression data, there's no shared results page that every user sees, and the same prompt can return different answers." Despite these challenges, SEJ says "Enterprise and agency SEO pros are still being asked to report on all of it."

Webinar Agenda

SEJ lists four areas the session will cover: the limitations of SEO-only measurement, including "the specific gaps in traditional SEO metrics once answers come from AI Overviews and LLMs"; prioritization guidance for measuring AI search performance; "practical adjustments to your measurement that you can start on right away"; and guidance on how "AI Overviews, AI Mode, and LLM visibility fit into the reports your team already delivers."

Fisher & Paykel reframes AI as a brand discovery and customer-behaviour challenge

Fisher & Paykel's chief digital officer Rudi Khoury says customers are already using GPT-style tools as research interfaces, pushing the appliance company to treat AI as a marketing and discovery problem, not just a customer-service efficiency tool. The company's Agentforce-based service agent and broader roadmap reflect a view that discovery, service and conversion are converging inside conversational AI environments.
