Grid My Business Launches AI Search Feature to Track Local Visibility Across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Platforms

Grid My Business, a local SEO platform, has launched AI Search, a feature that lets businesses and agencies measure how often and where they are mentioned across four AI platforms — ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overviews — across different geographic locations.

Grid My Business, described as an all-in-one local SEO platform, announced on September 23, 2026 the launch of AI Search, a new feature designed to help businesses and agencies track their local visibility across four major AI platforms: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overviews.

According to the company's press release, the tool enables users to select a business, enter a question a customer might ask, choose which AI platforms to scan, and define a geographic area. AI Search then maps where each platform mentions the business, names a competitor, or returns no business mention at all.

The feature includes an AI Share of Voice metric, which shows the percentage of answered locations where the business was mentioned. It also tracks cited sources — the websites AI platforms used in their answers — and allows competitor comparisons across questions, locations, and platforms. Users can schedule recurring scans on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to monitor changes over time, and can export maps and reports for client use.

AI Search additionally calculates an AI visibility score based on, according to the release, mention frequency, answer position, platform coverage, owned-site citations, and sentiment.

Mark Gan, identified as Community Manager at Grid My Business, framed the launch around a shift in how consumers discover local businesses. "Local discovery is no longer happening only on Google Maps or traditional search," Gan said in the release. "People are asking AI where to eat, what service to use, and which businesses they should consider. Businesses need to know whether they are actually showing up in those answers."

The company states the feature is available to all Grid My Business account holders with an active plan. The announcement was distributed as a paid press release through XPR Media, and USA TODAY Network editorial staff were not involved in its creation.

Google Admits Search Console Cannot Accurately Track AI Overview Rankings, Analysts Urge Shift to Outcome Metrics

Google Search Advocate John Mueller has acknowledged that Search Console relies on "block flattening" to record AI Overview positions, assigning every link inside an AI-generated summary a single rank rather than tracking individual placements. SEO analysts say this makes average position data misleading and are calling on marketers to replace traditional ranking metrics with direct outcome measures such as site visits, inquiries, and conversions.

HubSpot Declares Inbound Marketing Era Over After Losing 5 Million Monthly Blog Visits to AI

HubSpot's chief marketing officer and a senior growth executive say the inbound marketing model they helped create is no longer fit for purpose, citing a loss of 5 million blog visits in a single month and a 37% rise in AI-driven search as evidence. Writing in Fortune, Kipp Bodnar and Kieran Flanagan argue that AI answer engines have shattered the traditional buyer funnel and call for a full organisational transformation built around a new "Loop Marketing" framework.
