# Google Rolls Out AI Mode Information Monitoring to All Users Globally

*Google has expanded its AI Mode information monitoring feature to all users worldwide, moving beyond its earlier limited rollout to AI Ultra and Pro subscribers. The feature continuously checks the web for updates on topics users ask it to watch, and can also proactively suggest monitoring tasks during searches.*

Google has begun rolling out information monitoring in AI Mode to all users globally, the company announced on Monday, September 29, 2026. The feature, which continuously tracks web content for updates on topics a user specifies, was previously available only to Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers.

Robby Stein, VP of Product for Google Search, announced the global rollout in a post on X. According to Search Engine Journal, which first reported on the announcement, Stein confirmed that paid-tier subscribers had already been using the feature ahead of the broader release.

In his post, Stein described how the feature works: Just tell AI Mode exactly what to look for & Search will continuously check across changing info on the web like sites, forums and social posts, our real-time data sources, and Shopping Graph of 60B+ products, so you can stay up-to-date with fresh info. And it'll even suggest tasks when you're searching so you can get the latest info when it happens.

A demo video accompanying the announcement showed a user asking AI Mode to flag weekend pop-ups. The system responded that it had set up a task to keep you updated on events including vintage markets, flea markets, stoop sales, and block parties in Austin.

The monitoring examples Stein highlighted were described by Search Engine Journal as focused on local and shopping use cases, including new restaurants or pop-ups nearby, local holiday activities for families, and back-in-stock and price-drop updates. Stein described these as topics people keep coming back to.

## Background and Rollout History

Google first announced information agents at its I/O developer conference in May 2026, saying they would launch initially for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers that summer. A June launch subsequently brought the feature to Ultra subscribers only, across all AI Mode languages and markets, according to Search Engine Journal's earlier coverage.

The latest announcement uses the term info monitoring capabilities rather than "information agents," a shift in terminology from earlier communications. The rollout is described as global, though the announcement does not specify which languages are supported, and does not clarify when Pro subscriber access began.

## Unanswered Questions for Publishers and Businesses

Search Engine Journal noted several unresolved questions for local businesses and retailers. Neither Monday's announcement nor Stein's June post explains how Search selects the sources behind a monitoring update, and neither post addresses how often monitoring updates will surface specific websites or drive traffic to them. Stein's June post indicated that agent updates would include links to the web; Monday's post did not mention links.

Stein directed users to the Google app to try the feature and noted, Lots more to come!

Google's I/O announcement had outlined Search agents that users can create and manage for different tasks, with the company stating it was starting with information agents.
